The Parent Partnership group has been started because Ashurst Wood School is a very special place and we want to make it even better by ensuring that good home school links are the corner stone of the School for sustaining children’s well being, high attainment and achievement. We are using materials from the Parent Partnership Award to guide this process and give the work a systematic whole school approach, which research has shown has an impact on children’s attendance, behaviour and achievement.
The Parent Partnership group is made up of five class representatives who have volunteered their time to attend the meetings, gather the views and communicate with parents in the class, the head teacher and a governor. We will also be joined by a School Council representative for specific meetings.
The group have decided to communicate the outcomes of the meetings in three newsletters a year which will be sent home in paper form.
Your class representatives are:
Reception – Lisa James
Year 1 – Amanda Woodhall
Year 2 - Karen Harvey
Falcon Class – Michelle Scriminger
Kestrel Class - Kelly Miller
Eagle Class - Delphine Finlayson.
At the first meeting, the following 8 Objectives were agreed:
Objective 1 The School is a welcoming, communicative and friendly place for parents.
Objective 2 The School promotes the awareness and participation of all groups of parents in supporting their children’s learning and
developing their own learning.
Objective 3 The School holds and actively promotes enrichment opportunities and events for joint parent and child participation.
Objective 4 The School holds a good induction for new parents.
Objective 5 The School provides parents with relevant and user friendly guidance and information to help them support their children’s learning.
Objective 6 The School implements parent-friendly policies to establish effective home-school links and improve children’s attendance, punctuality, behaviour, progress and positive participation in School.
Objective 7 The School provides good support for all parents as their children leave the School.
Objective 8 The Parent Partnership work will form part of the Strategic School Improvement Plan.
If you have any thoughts, ideas or comments on the above objectives, or opportunites for parental engagement and the Partnership, please let us know.
Thank you in advance the Parent Partnership team.
