School Governors

The Governors are volunteers who have an interest in education and schools. All schools must have a Governing Body, the size of which is usually determined by the size of the school. Our Governing Body members are from a variety of backgrounds and experience.

John Durrant Local Authority Governor - Vice-Chair
Lynn Edwards Co-opted Governor
Jane Fairbourn Co-opted Governor
Lisa Hobby Headteacher
Nikki Kingett Staff Governor
Stuart Hofmann Co-opted Governor
Brian Warrener Co-opted Governor
Mathew Baldwin          Parent Governor
Michaela Frost Parent Governor
Lisa James Parent Governor
Vacancy Co-opted Governor

Our Clerk is -  Carol Laing

The Governors' job is to:

  • Ensure the School has a clear vision, ethos and strategic aims
  • Hold the Head to account for the educational performance of the School and its pupils and the performance management of staff
  • Oversee the financial performance of the School and make sure money is well spent.

At Ashurst Wood we are lucky to have a committed team who work hard,

devoting their energies and time to ensuring the success of our children. Among other things the Governors attend regular meetings, sub-committee meetings, visit the School regularly, meet with the staff and produce a termly newsletter.

Copies of the approved Minutes are available to view in the School Office and dates of all meetings can be found in the diary and term dates section.
