Teaching and beyond...

Our Community

As a village school, Ashurst Wood Primary School is at the heart of the community.  We join with the village to run a Christmas Fair and a bi-annual Summer Fair.  We sing at the village lunch club and go carol singing to raise money for charity.

The Ashurst Wood Pre-School is co-located in the school grounds and there are very strong links between the two establishments.  The children benefit from an excellent transition and enter school confidently knowing the staff and the school building.

The School has links with the parish church, St Dunstan's.  We attend services at the Church at Christmas and Easter and use the Church to support the curriculum through visits from the Vicar as well as other members of the church community.

The School is part of the East Grinstead Group of Schools ("EGGS") and we work closely with all the schools in the Group as well as Brambletye School, an independent school in the village.  The Year Four children swim weekly at Brambletye and we also attend many events there during the year, as well as using their facilities such as the full theatre to put on our school productions.

We are very proud of our community links and more details can be found to the left of this page.

Our Vision

We believe that everyone has a talent, and we work together to achieve full potential and bring out the best in every individual.

Our School is known as:

Successful, thriving and forward-looking;

A place where children enjoy learning in a happy, supportive environment;

A place where every individual makes a positive contribution, whether that is in school, in our community or in the wider world.
